When you first time created a Yahoo! (Messenger) account, actually you created the default account or primary account or main account of Yahoo! Messenger. For newbie, they may be not understand that beside the main account or main ID of YM, they can also create the secondary account or secondary ID. That’s can also be named as Alias ID or Secondary Public ID.

What is Public IDs?

Public IDs is an account that can be used just like the main / default / primary account. It can be used to join Yahoo Messenger and also can make a chat with the public IDs. You can create Public IDs up to six 6 Public IDs that under your Main Yahoo ID. That means you have another ID beside of you main account of yahoo. These secondary ID or ID’s under or alias ID is like you duplicate identity. You don’t even need to register or create another account of yahoo messenger to make those duplicate identities. All you have to do just create New Public ID under your main ID of Yahoo.

The purpose Yahoo! provides the secondary ID or alias ID is behind of the security reason. How to create Public Alias ID?

To create Public ID or secondary ID or Alias ID, simple login to your Yahoo Account and pointed your browser to http://profiles.yahoo.com/username. Then click New Public ID, continue its until you complete and finish the steps. Replay you steps to make another Alias ID.

You can also create Alias ID through Yahoo! Messenger. Do the steps below:

After that you will be directed to Yahoo Login Page. Just type your yahoo username aka ID (alias or main ID) with its password and press sign in. After that you’ll see a page like this:

Linked Alias ID with Primary Profiles ID

Multi ID vs Public Alias ID

The differences between Multi ID and Alias ID is, if Multi ID you have to create new primary main account and you need to used Multiple YM or chat client to used it, but Alias ID not need that thing. Multi ID can join all of the ID into one chat room but Alias ID can’t.

> This is not a MultiID that I been review and give to you before. If Multi ID have to change your register of yahoo messenger, Public ID are deferential of your main (primary) ID and do not have to change your yahoo messenger. Multi ID don’t have a limitation, but Public ID have a limitation. The limit of Public ID is 6 six ID.

With Public Id or Alias ID , you will be able to chat with your friend with 7 Id (including primary ID. You can join to room with one of your Public ID but you will never join room with 2 or more Public ID. This is not like Multi ID that can be joined to chat room with 2 or more ID. Public ID can be activated or deactivated depending of your self.

With Public ID you will be able to join to yahoo messenger with one of your Public ID. This mean that you will be able to join to yahoo messenger not only with your primary ID, but also with all of your Public ID can be used to join to yahoo messenger. Of course, your password of all your Public ID has the same to your Primary ID.

You can have a fun thing with using Public ID such as: changing Id frequently when your join chat room, chat with your friend with an ID that not knowing, disguise yourself if you met your friend in chat room and other.

Public ID cannot be used to login to yahoo mail. You must use your primary Id which have a same address with your yahoo mail to login to yahoo mail. You can create Public ID trough this step.

> Open your browser and type this link: http://profiles.yahoo.com/username. If you are not logged to yahoo, you must login first to make that link appears. Click Create/ Edit My Profile Then click Create New Public ID. Follow the number of step trough that link. And Type your new Public ID. Save it. Now you have a new Public ID. Create another one until you create 6 Public ID
