When you go out onto the Internet, surfing can be a bit risky if you're not careful. Surfing the Internet without any kind of basic computer protection can leave your personal data open to the world of hackers who are always looking for ways to steal your identity, put malware and spyware on your computer and cause you all kinds of problems. There is the real danger of picking up a virus or trojan which will give them access to your private information and threaten your safety and security.

People are amazed at how easily criminals can get your information!

As you surf, you can pick up cookies, little bits of data that track your personal movements as you surf. If you move from from one machine to the other, you'll have even worse problems. Each time you visit a website, you reveal more about yourself.

How can you stop it from happening?

Breathe a little easier because there is a solution that's easy to implement and offers a way for you to surf anonymously. While it's not foolproof, it is at least a partial solution to the problem of how to protect your identity as you tool around the Net. First, there are proxy servers. These can be used to hide your IP address. An IP address is what identifies you as you arrive at a website. Think of it like a license plate that differentiates you from other visitors. With proxy servers, you will be able to mask your IP address and utilize an address that is untraceable, and as a result, safer.

How Do You Use Proxy Servers Effectively?

One of the first and easiest ways to get proxy servers is through a vendor. There are specialized companies who do nothing else except provide safe, secure proxy servers that are both high-speed and reliable that you can use to safely surf the Internet. There are also free, proxy server options like Secret Surf and Proxify. Proxify comes as both a free and paid proxy service. Secret Surf allows you to surf the Internet at no charge. You simply need to enter the URL you want to visit via their website and it will take you to that website without you having to worry about picking up trackers and spyware. These are just a couple of the tools you can use to remain anonymous on the Internet.

Are You 100% Safe With Proxy Servers?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. However, it is still better to have a proxy server between you and spyware and malware than having nothing there. There are three other things you can add to your arsenal when surfing. First, it is advisable that you use an encrypted connection if you want to protect your personal information. Second, take some basic precautions when surfing. You'll want to remove all types of contents that may pose a threat like JavaScript and other types of scripts where you set your Internet browser's security high enough to stop or notify you when things are about to be downloaded to your machine. In this way you can have a positive experience when surfing the Internet without putting your personal safety at risk.
