Samsung LN46A650 – My Personal Experience

Just turn on the Samsung LN46A650 and you’ll see that it’s a joy to have and use. The first thing you see on the screen is a wizard to set a language and identify if you use the HDTV in a store or at home. After you set main settings Samsung LN46A650 searches for available channels and there you go – you watch it.

On a remote control you will find a large Menu button. After you press it, you can see a good-looking list of menu options which won’t annoy you and obscure the picture. There is another, shorter menu for additional settings and you can activate it with a Tools button. The Source button on the remote is used to list and check all the HDTV’s inputs (with active ones highlighted and at the top).

Samsung LN46A650 is extremely usable, yet it has some issues. One of the annoyances is a necessity to find and turn off the Entertainment setting at the setup menu before you can change the sound mode. Then the remote lacks a PIP button to instantly turn viewing two channels at once, though the LN46A650 model has such a function. Everything else is fine with the remote. Closed captioning, setting aspect ratio and picture modes and other settings are easily adjusted right on the remote. Besides it has an iPod-like jog wheel makes it stand out.

Samsung LN46A650 has a lot of features. An in-built USB port allows playing music and viewing photos right on the screen from any USB device. At the rear there is an Ethernet port, so you can use Samsung's InfoLink RSS service to get news and other sports, finance and weather related information from USA Today on your screen.

Samsung LN46A650 is one the best HDTVs available. Its awesome design and outstanding usability make it the right thing for those customers who pay attention to both form and function.
