Zelda Through The Ages
67When it comes to video games, The Legend of Zelda has to be one of the oldest titles you’ll ever encounter. It was first seen on Japan on the late 1980’s. At present, many new The Legend of Zelda games are being played and lots more of Zelda games are being developed.
The Legend of Zelda was first seen on Famicom Disk System on Japan. The Famicom Disk System was never exported, so The Legend of Zelda was only known by the Japanese. When the Nintendo Entertainment System was built, The Legend of Zelda was remade and this time, in the form of cartridge. The Legend of Zelda I was the first title of Legend of Zelda on the Nintendo Entertainment system. The Legend of Zelda is one of the most unique games developed at that time. Unlike other games, Zelda was not exactly a 2D platform type of game. Yes, it is 2D. But the overhead view of the game changed something. In fact, that overhead view made players interested at that time and so, they tried playing The Legend of Zelda. With its unique view, the players were stunned. And that’s not the only thing stunning about The Legend of Zelda. The Legend of Zelda tells the story of the boy named Link. Link, a resident of the fantasy land of Hyrule, was sent on a mission to save Princess Zelda from the hands of the evil Ganon. Ganon plans to take over the world and kidnapped Princess Zelda. He has assumed the power of the TriForce of Power and is using it to dominate. Link has to find the TriForce of Wisdom, which was divided into eight fragments. The quest for the eight fragments of TriForce of Wisdom begins and Link journeys the world in search for it. The same plot was seen on the other game titles of Zelda and it’s almost like a remake. The world maps are very different. The plot changed after seeing the new Zelda: Link’s awakening on the GameBoy. The change of plot has again stunned the players. Since the players like the different story, Nintendo has made the next titles with new stories. Also, with the evolution of technology, the gameplay of The Legend of Zelda changed as well. The graphics become better, until it changed from 2D to 3D. The 3D versions appeared on GameCube and N64. The 3D graphics has furthered the fun, excitement, and thrill experienced by the players. More players came to like the 3D form of The Legend of Zelda. But while 3D has become the in thing, Nintendo and Capcom still developed the 2D version of The Legend of Zelda. This was seen on its release on GameBoy Color and GameBoy Advance. They continued 2D through the portable devices, though the new portable Nintendo DS offered a 3D Version of the Zelda series. On WII, Zelda has seen its best graphics ever. And not only that, it also has the best game play yet, since players can use the sword and shield accessory to play. It’s as if you’re Link.
The Legend of Zelda has evolved through the ages with the advancement of technology. Nintendo indeed can see a bright future with the Legend of Zelda
