Violation: TOS

If your Hub has been identified by our system as a violation of our Terms of Use, you will receive an email letting you know that your Hub has been unpublished. Below are a few possible reasons that your Hub has been moderated for a TOS violation.

A TOS violation may include, but is not limited to:

  • Content about, linking to, or receiving traffic from traffic exchanges
  • Sales or distribution of coursework or student essays
  • Promotion of automated marketing tools or programs
  • Hacking/cracking content
  • Content regarding programs which compensate users for clicking ads or offers, performing searches, surfing websites, posting in forums, entering CAPTCHAs, or reading emails
  • Requests for ad clicks
  • Content promoting replicas of designer goods
  • Pages whose content or URL could confuse users into thinking it is associated with Google due to the misuse of logos, trademarks or other brand features
  • Linking to sites containing any of the above

To republish your Hub, see directions at the bottom of page.

Violation: Legal Issues

If your Hub has been identified as a possible violation of our Terms of Use due to legal reasons, it means that we have received a claim by a third party that your Hub may infringe upon their trademark or intellectual property rights, or be defamatory and/or libelous. You may edit your Hub content to remove the potentially problematic content or, if you would like to dispute this third-party claim, please email team@hubpages.com with accurate contact information for yourself, so that we can put you in touch with the complainant.

Violation: Personal Attacks or Hate Speech

If you receive an email stating that your Hub is in violation of having personal attacks or hate speech, it means that your Hub contains personal attacks, hate speech, or racist content, which are prohibited on HubPages. This includes attacks, both against individuals and/or groups:

  • By you, within the body of the Hub
  • By you, in the comments section of the Hub
  • By another user, in the comments section of the Hub

Please remove all attacks from the body of the Hub, as well as the comments section, before attempting to republish this Hub.

What is a Warning?

Warnings are basically a "heads up" that HubPages sees your content as a possible violation. If you see a warning on one of your Hubs, make sure that your Hub does not violate our Terms of Use. If your Hub follows our Terms of Use, simply disregard the warning and continue writing your fabulous Hubs! If your warning lets you know that your Hub cannot be published, and you are confident that your Hub meets our TOS, then please email us at team@hubpages.com.

WARNING: Your Hub is at risk of being identified as a HubPages Policy violation

If you receive this warning at the top of your Hub, it means that your Hub contains links that indicate that it is likely to be violation of HubPages policy. If your Hub contains any of the following, remedy it so that you are not at risk of HubPages moderating and unpublishing your Hub.

If you see a warning, your Hub may:

  • contain content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity or infringes on the legal rights of others
  • contain content regarding programs which compensate users for clicking ads or offers, performing searches, surfing websites, posting in forums, or reading emails
  • contain gambling or casino related content
  • contain content promoting the sale of prescription drugs, alcohol, tobacco related products, or weapons and ammunition
  • contain content related to racial intolerance or advocacy against any individual, group or organization
  • link to sites that have been identified as hosts of phishing or malware

Please verify that the content in your Hub meets all the provisions of the HubPages Content Policies and Terms of Use. If you feel like the sites that you link to have been incorrectly categorized, please contact us.

WARNING: This Hub contains links to sites that may contain malicious code or are suspected to be phishing sites

If you receive this warning at the top of your Hub, it means that your Hub contains links to pages that have been identified through the Google Safe Browsing API as potentially dangerous because they may meet one or both of the definitions below. You can see the particular link or links that are causing this warning by editing your Hub. Unless you are very confident that these warnings are in error, we'd recommend removing the links in questions from your Hub.

  • Suspected phishing page. This page may be a forgery or imitation of another website, designed to trick users into sharing personal or financial information. Entering any personal information on this page may result in identity theft or other abuse. You can find out more about phishing from www.antiphishing.org.
  • Visiting this web site may harm your computer. This page appears to contain malicious code that could be downloaded to your computer without your consent. You can learn more about harmful web content including viruses and other malicious code and how to protect your computer at StopBadware.org.

Just because a site has been identified as malicious does not mean that the operator of the site had ill intent. It could simply be the result of inattentive server administration, the exploitation of software vulnerabilities by hackers, or an erroneous identification by Google. However, unless you are very confident that these warnings are in error, we recommend removing the links in questions from your Hubs.

Google works to provide the most accurate and up-to-date phishing and malware information. However, it cannot guarantee that its information is comprehensive and error-free: some risky sites may not be identified, and some safe sites may be identified in error.

WARNING: This Hub appears to be receiving traffic from a traffic exchange

HubPages prohibits the use of automated click and impression generating tools and does not allow traffic from sources that generate clicks or impressions such as paid-to-click, paid-to-surf, autosurf and click-exchange programs. If you have participated in a traffic exchange, your Hub may be unpublished as a result. If it is unpublished, it can not be republished until all traffic exchange traffic has been discontinued for at least one week.
