The Weekly HubNuggets Competition

You may have noticed a super sticky Forum thread that changes every week- one which always curiously refers to HubNuggets. This Forum links you to a Hub full of wacky shenanigans and voting capsules regarding several selections of Hubs. What is all the ruckus, you ask? It is the ruckus of HubNuggets!

HubNuggets are glittering nuggets of writing gold plucked from the HubPages community. They are written by new Hubbers, selected by a special team of volunteers, and elected by the HubPages community.

A HubNuggets nominee is a Hub written by a new Hubber that has been selected by the HubNuggets team and voted on in the weekly HubNuggets Hub. New Hubbers looking to become HubNuggets nominees can write on any topic they like- different topics are chosen each week from which new nominees are selected.

The lifecycle of a HubNuggets nominee is as follows:

1. A new Hubber writes a great Hub.
2. Off at secret headquarters, the HubNuggets Team chooses three topics.
3. From these three topics, the HubNuggets Team selects HubNuggets nominees.
4. The authors of each week's nominees are notified about their Hubs' selection via email.
5. The week's HubNuggets nominees are presented in the week's HubNuggets Hub (published and linked-to from a new Forum thread every Friday).
6. For about a week, Hubbers are free to visit the HubNuggets Hub (which can be found through the HubNuggets thread in the Forum) and vote for their favorite Hubs.
7. On Wednesday at 12:00pm (PST), voting closes, and winners are announced in the Forum thread (winners are the top three from each topic).
8. Winners are featured in the weekly newsletter (which goes out to tens of thousands of Hubbers) and awarded with a special HubNuggets Accolade.

Being nominated for the HubNuggets competition is a good experience because Hubbers will click through and read your Hub as they go through the voting process. Should your Hub be selected as a winner in your topic, it will be featured in the weekly newsletter, which is sent to tens of thousands of people! Some of these people may decide to follow you.

The group of Hubbers responsible for selecting weekly nominees is known as the HubNugget Team, and is currently comprised of Patty Inglish, MS, Zsuzsy Bee, RedElf, Enelle Lamb, KoffeeKlatch Gals, and LadyJane1. Assisting the team is HubNuggets Cheerleader ripplemaker who acts as a special correspondent and announcer.

Two beloved previous members of the HubNuggets team are Shirley Anderson, B.T. Evilpants, and De Greek.

Potential HubNuggets nominees and weekly topics are selected based on HubPages algorithms that take into account traffic, originality, word count, and other factors. Hubbers can also recommend Hubs for nomination, but the HubNuggets team is responsible for final selection and nomination.

The HubNuggets Team, however, only selects candidates. It is up to the community to select winners, so make sure that you check out the nominees each week and vote!

Voting for HubNuggets is fun- it's that simple. Each week’s HubNuggets Hub is fresh and hilarious, and the HubNuggets Team always selects choice articles for you to vote on. It is nice to read curated Hubs every once in a while- their quality is inspiring and they might encourage you to write some new and exciting Hubs yourself!

In addition, reading through the nominees' Hubs might introduce you to bright new Hubbers and spark wonderful new friendships. At the very least, you’ll come away from the HubNuggets experience moderately amused and with some new, topical information in your head.

Every week, visit the HubPages Forum and click on the current HubNuggets thread (which is always super sticky, meaning that you will see it at the top of the list on the main page). Click through to the HubNuggets Hub, scroll down, read through the week’s candidates, and vote for your favorites! You can vote for each topic, or just one... or two- whatever you like! Keep in mind, though, that you can only vote for each category once, so choose wisely!
