How To Use the HubPages Answers Section
The Answers section is a place where Hubbers can ask questions. Preferably ones that require a factual answer with useful information, not just an opinion. Neither is it where you should ask help questions related to Hubbing or ask critique of your Hubs- those belong in the Forums.
If you click on the Answers tab at the top of any page in HubPages, you can see Hot, Best, Latest, and Unanswered Answers on HubPages.
The Best Questions and Answers
- Have correct spelling, grammar and punctuation
- Are useful to a wide audience
- Have the potential to be relevant for a long period of time
- Are factual - not personal
How Can I Contribute to the Answers Section?
You can contribute to the Answers section in two different ways on HubPages:
- Make a request that you’d like another expert to address, like “How to get rid of ants” or “What's the ideal cake for a 6 year old birthday?” Remember, topics that may lead to a full-fledged Hub with information useful to many people are best.
- Answer a request. Browse through the existing requests and if you find one that you feel you could answer well, because you know about the topic well (or are at least interested in doing some research on it), then click the “Answer this question” link below the question to start a Hub.
Questions can be answered in two ways. It may only require a short answer. If the response is requires greater detail, images, graphs, video, or even just a lot of words, you can click on "make a Hub about it."
Both asking and answering questions can give you broader exposure to the HubPages community, giving them the opportunity to visit your Hubs, comment on them, and even help promote them for more traffic.
Again, you'll find the Answers section in the top browse menu on every page of the site.
Questions and Subdomains
You have the option to host your Questions on your HubPages subdomain, which means that you can earn from ad revenue from those pages. To move the Questions you have asked to your subdomain, visit My Account > Q&A and click the "Transfer" button. Keep in mind that this transfer is irreversible.
In the Q&A section of My Account, you can also view all of your Questions, all of your Answers, and statistics regarding each Question you have asked, which include the number of Answers, comments on answers, pageviews, and the date those Questions were created.
For now, only AdSense ads appear on Question pages. If you would like to track the Google AdSense revenue you have made through your Questions:
- Visit Google AdSense
- Click on the My Ads tab
- Click on URL channels in the left hand navigation bar
- Click the”new URL channel” button
- Enter the following URL (but using your username): http://yourusername.hubpages.com/question/
