A Poem About Love and Growing Old: How We Danced

Source

Was it only yesterday
We held tight and danced in the falling rain
I wish we could dance again today

Stealing kisses making hay
Daisies and buttercups into lover's chain
Was it only yesterday

young and shy just on our way
Our selfish passion almost drove us insane
I wish we could dance again today

your lustrous hair, now turning grey
The music stopped we'll never go there again
Was it only yesterday

Now and then I see you sway
A wistful smile crosses your face, echos of joy shadow of pain
I wish we could dance again today

As the sun begins to set, there's always a price to pay

But we danced our dance, look how much we've gained

Was it only yesterday

I wish we could dance again today

Blossom, Welcome from Down under and thank you so much for the lovely comment. You are right of course, as we get older, if we should look back now and then it's because of those good memories. My best wishes to you.

Vincent, thank you so very much for this tremendous compliment, I find it so heart warming when my poems manages to touch someone. I appreciate your support and your generosity. As for Beyonce; yes, the lady is on fire, glad you enjoyed it.

Heart rendering poetry at its finest. Your words moved with your choice of music and pictures, I felt each word. We all rest on memories and I thank many for having loved me, for without it I know I could not have gone on. BTW Beyonce could dance for me anytime:-) very HOT indeed.

Yes, time is fleeting and we should cherish every moment we have and love others deeply and this day, as tomorrow may never come. Lovely piece. In His Love, Faith Reaper

Wetnose, sometime the dance is just a metaphor for life, so you can dance with the best of them. Thank you so much for stopping by. My best to you.

Billy, nice to see you, I'm not familiar with Garth Brooks work, I know he is big in country and western music and I think he was married to Julia Roberts, that's as much as I know. Anyway, I'll check it out.

Thank you for the nice comment.
