To relish in the rains .............Verse

A heavy rain drums down the
surface of shingles
splashing into the gutters
clattering away down the spout
and swishes across the gravel
in the drive
without shame

I look out through the valley as the
mist descends over the pasture
hiding the view of the far off
mountains only the
white fence in the foreground
remains

And at once I realize that when the mists
close in I am totally alone
no village
no crowds
no friends
nor foes until the rain
ends and the robins become still

I know it will not last forever
nor cleanse me of
all my ills
but for the moment I imagine
that I am new again
and all else is but a dream
I relish in the rain

So very cool that you put into words a feeling that I have often had yet never recognized. Thank you for the awakening.

Great poem! I often write about the rain. There is something about a downpour that makes time stop long enough for us to pause and think about the present moment.

Beautiful thoughts concernig the rain. Everything feels so clean after the rain.
