Shipwrecks...... a sea of wisdom.......

Beneath the turning sea lie the remains
of all the unsinkable vessels
And so too the trains twisted around
the footings of iron trestles

But know better than I .....I see
it in the chin held high
No longer do you listen .......though you know better
and so do I

Armageddon begins with the
best laid plans .....Yes?
And then spiral downward
into a
setting sun out west

It's all okay ........turn now... swallow
your sickening pride
Give up the ghosts ......return to the path
of wisdom there's no where to hide

The fires on the horizon .....the lightning
scorches the earth
The planet is dieing and ego?.
what was it worth

Fires in the coal beneath once
pristine valleys of Tennessee
The desert sands removed and the
pipelines glisten rust free

An old set of tires on the pile by the highway .........a truck pulling new cars ....turn up the furnace.......Bring on the street lights ....air conditioners ......but as those shiny new earth movers roll off the line........the coal company agrees to pay the reduced fines..........I see visions along the highways ....a refrigerator lies along the riverbank.......and the Superfund lists grow and grow ........... Five within ten miles of me , where is yours, or do you know?

You are talking my language. They are still trying to drill off of our coast. So far, we are holding them off. The big developers in Florida figured environmental fines into the overhead. I swear, I prayed with all of my heart to stop them. Sorry about the financial mess. Your 401k would still be in good shape if they were still going.

We have a great problem with pollution. We dump anything anywhere. On our local channel yesterday, a community was protesting because the company responsible for the sewage has a defective sewer line that leaking sewage into the river killing all the fish and other animals.

Cardisa , Even here in America this happens, canoe around the bend of a river and find a refridgerator on the banks of that river or in a state forest , pristine except for a pile of flourescent light bulbs broken on the side of the road, the mentality of these people ?!!.........:-}

How could people not care for the beauty of a trash-free landscape? Soon the beauty will be gone along with our rivers..Beautiful ahorseback...

Voted up and beautiful! Can't stand what pollution is doing to this world. We got plenty of it here in Riga. Love taking those first long walks once spring comes round. Now it's budding bush - trash - flowers springing up among bottles and cans, look what a wonderful patch of grass has sprung up - next to it some old T.V.s etc...

I love the poem, a powerful plea to do right by each other, nature, our culture. I especially like the reference to Armageddon. Bit one of my favorite lines was in a comment you made to a comment. "...yes we must awaken the dark beast of apathy in America.." Terrific imagery. :) SHARING of course. Theresa
