A Devoted Life, to set us Free

Life is much like a mountain
Life is much like a mountain
The devoted life, much like a river
The devoted life, much like a river
rolling down throughout the valley
rolling down throughout the valley
river of life, flowing down to the sea
river of life, flowing down to the sea
life is like an ocean, washing away our sins
life is like an ocean, washing away our sins
Life, so much like an ocean
Life, so much like an ocean
In a devoted life, we can all be free
In a devoted life, we can all be free

Song Lyrics for; A Devoted Life to Set us Free

A devoted life, is to climb a mountain,

towering high up above the land,

you and I, we just have to climb it,

reach the top, there to understand.

It's never done, without any stumbling,

can help us to solve our problems there,

another try can make things better,

love and caring, ours, to share.

(Refrain) But remember me, for I did not falter,

yours and mine, it was all ours to gain,

Don't give up, just keep on trying.

resist all weakness, fight through the pain.

For a devoted life, we must cross that river,

reach the other side, where we belong,,

every yard, that waters traveling,

ever hour, its voyage, long.

Going on down the water's passages,

reach the breaks, where rapids all flee,

and with its rising and in its falling,

in our raft of life, to set us free.

(Refrain) But remember me, for I did not falter,

yours and mine, it was all ours to gain,

Don't give up, just keep on trying,

resist all weakness, fight through the pain.

Devoted lives, they walk that valley,

all the joys, found in swaying trees,

voices soft, so you may slumber,

every breath, in the cooling breeze.

Every soul, like a brother and sister,

Seems the same, as you and me.

Mighty challenges, may face one another,

so every spirit, can then be free.

(Refrain) But remember me, for I did not falter,

Yours and mine, it was ours to gain,

Don't give up, just keep on trying,

resisr all weakness, fight through the pain.

Our devoted lives, are like an ocean,

with undertows, as the tides move in,

now remember this, for it's not a notion,

Soon, waves will wash away every sin.

(Repeat stanza) once again.

Lovely work. I love the cadence to this poem, the repeat lines....I'd love to hear it to music. Well done!

Thanks Bill. I have written three very successful tunes in days gone by, yet never received credit for them. I have taken safeguards to prevent use of the song lyrics and proof that I wrote it this time around. Hope all who read do enjoy and appreciate the message that I am trying to give. whonu

this one is moving to read. I reminds me of the scriptures that I am reading in relation to a group of articles I have written. But in that scripture it speaks of being firm as a valley that will not move or pure and strong like a fountain that springs up unto righteousness. I did not want to mention the articles a take away from this poem. This one really touched me. Great! Voted up and shared.

Lovely poem, it has a great rhythm to it. I'd love to hear the tune, too. Did you do those fantastic illustrations as well?
