A Door Once Opened: A Response to BillyBuc's Challenge
Was it only yesterday,
we moved and cried
and held the earth close?
We knew her rhythms.
We bent our faces to touch her,
knowing her heart,
so intimately,
that ours beat in tandem.
Now we breathe her in memory.
A door once opened
cannot always be closed again.
They wither,
bending to demand and desire
until its shape
no longer discernible,
fades into shadow.

Bill Holland has asked us to consider the Door to Nowhere --a picture he took, as a writing prompt. Oh and the response must start with: "Was it really only yesterday." This is my response.
