A Father's Love - A Poem

Edge of Darkness

A father’s love

Sent from above

To nurture and care

Even if the feelings are bare

No matter the distance

No matter how extensive

There is never a chance

To forget and leave

Ones daughter who is so special

My, my you think it’s typical

Yet, it is not, she is a princess

Daddy is on the rescue when she’s in distress

She is placed on a pedestal,

Daddy’s love is unequivocal

Beware of those who hurt her

He won’t leave anything unturned even your hair

He will follow you at the earth’s edge

Like a bull who is full of rage

For you’ve mistakenly touched his daughter

He will turn upside down your lair

No matter where you are

He is sure to wage a war

Up to his last breath

He will avenge his daughter’s death…

Note: Inspired by the movie Edge of Darkness starred by Mel Gibson...

Take a feeling and make it a poem by which others can feel, too. Nicely done.

Edge of Darkness is a wonderful about father's love to his daughter. Your poetry is even better.

Happy Father's Day

You did a beautiful job of describing the love a dad exudes to his beloved daughter. He will always be there for her no matter what, so true. I have two of my own and think of them often. Peace and blessings to you my poetic friend.

Powerful poem about a father love, its was well written, and very creative indeed Raciniwa, nice job I loved it, and especially the climax ending such drama and true fatherly love. Voted up & out!

that's a father should always be Vincent, but sad to say there are many who have not experienced that, and there are fathers who are deprived also to show their love to their children, but there are father's who really don't know how to become one...Peace be with you and blessings be upon you too...thanks for sharing your time with me...

hello Bill! it took me some time to write this, for i couldn't capture the right emotions at first, for i didn't grow with my father, and my memories of him were clouded by his constant bickering with my mother...yet, i envisioned Mel Gibson as the father i didn't have...thank you for visiting...

it's ok dai...actually, at first i was hesitant to deal on this topic because i too haven't experienced the love of the father...yet i realized why should i deprive myself of that moment to relish that love even if it is seen only in movie...

We love our daughters and always want the very best for them in a world which in some of its countries demeans and trivializes them.

Hi Girl , I must say I have a baby girl ! Even though she's thirty five I would avenge the very act , the man , even the whole darned world if anyone ever ever hurt her ! I cannot stand injustice in any form and there is so much of that today , Someone once said and I love it " "There is justice and then there is the law" , vengeance comes under the term justice ...........Awesome write ! Huggs !

that's so noble of you...yes, some fathers nowadays forget their role to their children, that's why some grow up confused with their identity...very seldom that we find fathers who would really go to such great lengths in protecting their child...

you're an awesome father too Ed...hugs back...thank you...
