all green and wonderous again,

where girls play around on the cobbled streets

and boys play around in the rain.

How I long to see dear old Ireland

in the full glory of her bloom,

where church bells are ringing

and choirs are singing,

Oh how I wish I could see her soon.

How I long to see dear old Ireland

where the women are chatting all day,

of the gossip they tell to each other

and of old wives tales they may have to say.

Oh Ireland, Oh Ireland

Oh beautiful Ireland,

a land that has pastures so green.

But now all dismayed

poor Ireland has frayed

with their troubles the whole world has seen
