A Haiku - Vision

We get what we see.

We perish without vision.

Look up and we live.

"Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that keepeth the law, happy is he." (Prov. 29:18)

In this perilous time ahead of us we need to keep the vision of who we were meant to become. While doing so, we can take comfort from this promise: "....the desire of the wicked shall perish." from Psalm 112:10.

Yes, the times are perilous. Who will remind us of the vision of what we must want to be? That reminder must be strong enough, and clear enough that we will work for it together? "....blood, sweat, and tears" was realistic for that time.

Give us reality and a goal. Challenge us to be our best selves and to remain steadfast as one of many last best hopes of mankind.

I sure hope my homeland will learn what it needs to learn and that it will be the home of the free and the brave when I can finally get back there. Save some pie for us.

Your words are simple and short but said with tremendous truth! I only hope, no I pray, the nation will look up before it is too late.

Gypsy Rose Lee - I don't have to save a piece for you two; when you get here I will bake a new one just for you two to share. America will still be here, in what form though is anyone's guess.

Vision is really not difficult, as long as we strive to live decent lives.

aviannovice - Why is it I have never heard or read of women hermits?

Isn't it possible, for example a hermit, to live a decent life that has no meaning? Meaning to the hermit, yes, but meaning in the eternal scheme of things? Admittedly an all-knowing God knows the hermit will be a hermit, a monk will be a monk, you will love the study of birds, and I will marvel at (but be unable to imitate) the extraordinary talents of musicians, dancers, and some poets, but how will God interpret the blessings of a hermit?

Brothers and Sisters have we plenty, but to which of them are you and am I a Sister or a Brother? You cultivate sisterhood by your photos and your writing, and I brotherhood by the same route. We do it because it gives us meaning.

"Decent" is one letter short of "descent." We aspire to something fuller and higher; not just decent, but more. N'est ce pas?
