A Hawk Among the Trees........

Driving along the dirt road on my
way to the somewhere and what gives
I passed a section of woods ....the
one where the red tailed hawk lives

I surprised him and followed him down
the road slowly I watched
Something in his sense of manuevering that
I had matched

As he turned from the road to fly
among the pillars of the forest ....the trees
He tucked his wings to his body
and glided safetly with ease

And at that moment I thought
isn't that just as I did as well
When I go among humanity pulling in
my wings for just a spell

To keep from encounters ...or being hurt
it means I too pulled in my wings
At the tender ages.......I just learned a lesson
of pain ......of life .....of many things

I stopped beside the road and wrote
something down to that affect
And looked for the hawk just once knowing
we just shared a connect

Ahh fly on my friend ........but thank you
for the awakening
Such small ecounters .....but important
ones......free for the taking

Watch closely my friends for there are little lessons out there in the natural world , We tend to think that we somehow are unique in this world but untill we slow down and watch the natural world and learn the smallest of lessons from it........we can't know ourselves....:-}

Good lesson, and that's true nature have so many things to be blessed from. Right now the birds are chirping and making lovely songs i guess they are sayin thank you LORD for a brand new day. The rivers runs and makes a graceful sound. Nature is wonderful and peaceful because GOD created it.

All we need to do is stop and listen. I had some nice poems on nature but had to remove them to put into my book.

i love the picture above

God bless you

Oh my. This is one of the best I've read. ahorseback you have captured and freed something magnificent here. Hawks are intelligent and majestic creations; and occasionally we're fortunate enough to get a glimpse of their secret majesty. Very well done my friend.

You obviously have a keen eye and intellect to have gleaned this lesson from the hawks flight into the trees. Well done. Voted up and beautiful.

horseback, this is one of your very best poems. The inspiration from the hawk is gorgeous. And the reference to how one pulls into oneself in the crowds of society is so true for many of us. I love this a lot.
