A Learning Experience ( a poem of inspiration)

Self portrait...
Self portrait...
On the highway to success...
On the highway to success...
I may be slow, but I get there!
I may be slow, but I get there!
Self esteem is most important!
Self esteem is most important!

The teacher teaches and then he hopes that all his students do learn,

He instills in them, literally drills, they gain only by what they are to earn.

Early mornings devoted preparation, followed by late hours in a refrain,

Brightens the highway to their success, all's self esteem, in the main.

Day in and the day out, the basics in reading and math, are stressed,

Every child to walk a mile, in all his brothers and sisters shoes, is best.

Respect of others, as well as one's self, taught to each, and everyone.

Good days work followed by good night's rest, as all is said and done.

The search for a better way of life, forming good habits while in school,

No better preparation afforded to each one, giving one's best, the rule.

A successful future to depend on the now, each to have this special tool,

As every step is completed in full, the resulting outcome, nothing but cool.

After many years trying to instruct, my hoping that students have learned,

I've been blessed to greet them as grownups, the successes I have earned.

After I pondered the question of my value to each, and just what goal to reach,

I came to the realization, and my answer at last, they taught me how to teach.

Wonderful inspiration for those among us who teach. This is special to me being a teacher of special education for 33 years. Well done.

So glad you shared with me my friend. I was also taught by my special needs kids for 25 years. They taught me well. I learned to feel empathy, rather than sympathy. I learned that no matter how hard and great the challenges were, the learning came with the attempting and when there was success, it made all the difference. Self esteem soared. Thanks for your nice review. whonu

Our teachers are such an important part of life. They work in tandem with parents, giving children the tools with which to succeed.

"They taught me how to teach." Therein lies great inspiration to continue learning and teaching since both teacher and student improve through their interaction.
