A Little Bit Of Spice

The Old And The New

Who would of guessed life turning out this way

I am not sure I can understand

It is my turn to give life a whirl and see where I land

My childhood was simple and my family was close

I am the youngest of four boys

My father was a truck driver and mother was a stay at home mom

We went on yearly vacations when I was small

Off to church every Sunday

As the years passed my two older brothers chose to serve their country

One joined the Marines and the other the Navy

While the two youngest were just happy going to school and later college

Years later we all got married and moved on

Everyone working and earning an honest living

Looking back at all my childhood memories what a joy they bring

For they are captured here on paper in only a few lines

My world as it unfolded over time

The real events left more than an impression they left feelings and hidden meanings

Of everything I hold dear in my life

So this is a thank you to you mom and dad

For teaching me right from wrong and being true to myself

Life passes fast before our eyes

It is only those who appreciate the things they have had

Find that happiness that fills every thought

I enjoyed so many wonderful times

Like a story book rhyme

Thank you for sharing. Memories of family are so precious. You're right time does go by quickly. First my dad died when I was 10 and my mom passed on much later in 1996 but it is still to fast and too soon. Parents should be forever but at least we know they remain to watch over us and that someday we will meet again.

Gypsy Rose Lee I would love to say it was more exciting and interesting but it was simple and sweet. Now as I grow older and both my parents passed on I must make my life as wonderful as I can.Turning an average day into a comforting thought.A busy week of working day after day into a proud memory of paying my bills and providing for my family.A quiet peaceful night home with my wife as loving and wonderful times we can share.Writing stories on the HubPages brings out the good, bad and the most incredible things that I see in my life.Spending time with are cat Charlotte gives us a taste of trouble and giving endless love spun into a clawed rolled of toilet paper and a cat rub. What tomorrow will bring is something of a mystery that has to be solved or a funny joke that has to be told.As we age we have a love that will never grow old.Another day where the sun comes up and the snow will melt.Until the next storm then pull out the shovels and put on the warm winter gloves winter is not over and neither are my thoughts for another story or poem to pass the time or give a quick chuckle.Thanx so much for reading my work and sharing my day.
