A Lover's Prayer
Let us never lose our joy in each other
Our hope, our happiness together
Let us never lose the sense of the beautiful
We found in each other's eyes.
Let us lie down together
Entwined, so close, our two hearts beat as one
As my gentle hand smooths your shoulder
Your loving fingers run through my hair.
Let us lie down lightly
Let time not dim the joy of our nearness to each other
Let us temper together the stormy weather
On the ocean of our lives together.
And should death part us
Let it be only the finale of seem; a temporary ending
Let us be reunited in heaven,
There to share the glory of our creation, our souls washed clean
With our Creator
Forever and ever
