Forever Lying

Lying...

I watch and hear him

with lies neat and trim

Lying...

Like many times before

as he comes in the door

Lying...

About the loss of time

tales turned on a dime

Lying...

about just anything

Did it matter? Everything!

Lying...

My pleas with no success

like he is now...useless.

Lying...

Nothing I could save

follows to the grave

Forever lying....

Good one!.. who's this lying one though?

LOL, rahul. Poor lying guy, huh? Really, I don't think I was thinking of anyone in particular. I revised this poem from one I had jotted down years ago, so it could have been about someone in particular, though. Who knows? At any rate, a poem was created, huh? Thanks for being the first one to read this poem!

Vic! I think its very seldom that we find poor lying guys.. most of'em have a motive of sorts.. I think so! But who knows... some of them are really in a state of despair to lie... I won't say I haven't lied! But I have never got any one into trouble with my lies..... ummmmm!! except for my high school teachers.. hehe!

Your poem made me create an image of a wife troubled by her husband's lies... sometimes cute.. sometimes disturbing... in all a wonderful piece once again!

Hmmmmmm....Lots to think about, rahul! Great comments. Thanks again!!!

Great poem...loved the composition and the depth in so few words! Really beautiful.

" lies neat and trim " - yes, that's how the worst lies always are.

Vicki, you may not have been thinking of anyone but I can think of several who fit this description. I guess I need to work on some resentments, huh?

Great job my friend!

It is always a lost of great trust when lies come into a relationship. It is hard to recoup any kind of love when this happens. Great reflection.

Hi, cool hub. I ask God to forgive me of small lies that I unintentionally tell. Many people don't know that lying is a sin. voted up.

I agree, Brinafr3sh. So many people seem to lie too easily, and much more than a little white lie. Thanks for the comment.

Victoria, the business of lying is very intricate. My view,

Must be some pressing need to fulfill; most of us lie for this very cause.

Good Victoria. It certainly emphasizes the effects of hearing the lie, how the lie changes things, and how one comes to expect nothing but lies questioning everything. And the pangs of knowing someone is a liar. Without getting technical about the subject or even "white lies," the kind a parent might tell to feed a child...I find that if a person can lie about the smaller things, they can lie about the bigger things. Thumbs up.

Victoria, powerful poem! I knew someone like this and he would lie about what he had for dinner. It seems that someone lies about one thing, it just easier and easier to lie about more and more. I'm loving your poems! Voted all the ups but funny.

makusr--Interesting comments. Yes, many lies may be due to the reasons you list. Thanks for the feedback!

Vicki, this is really, really good. "I watch and hear him with lies neat and trim", what great lines to describe the practiced liar! Isn't that how they are with an answer (lie) for everything. I also love your economy of words yet you've said so very much. Voted up all around!

Victoria.....Seems as though we can all think of at least one person in our life, when we read this. Lies do more damage than hurricanes and tornadoes.....don't you agree? Up ++

Great poem Vic..sadly one who lies this much believes their own lies..the cycle is never broken just hurts the ones that love them so..Thanks for a deep poem that many can relate to I am sure..

Have a blessed day! :)

Ah! Liars. They think no one is onto them and that only they know they are not telling the truth. So well expressed in this poem.

I hate a liar! That is one thing I don't forgive easily. I have to confess that I know my fiancé is lying about something that happened before we were together and that is the only reason I am willing to overlook it because I know his reasons for lying but it still irks me.

Victoria, great poem written by someone who's heard it all before and has now heard enough. Seething frustration is finally giving way to a decision to turn a corner and never look back. It has real punch in every verse. voted up...NOT lying!

If you were to change the gender of the character, this would be about my first wife. Well done with the emotion of this rhyme.

Great poem Vicki and if you've forgotten who you wrote it for originally that is even greater.

'Lies neat and trim' Hmmm rehearsed and deliberate lies, don't need those types of guys. I had one of those, funny how they seem to think you can't see through them.

Victoria Lynn profile image

Victoria Lynn 4 years ago from Arkansas, USA Author

Hubert-- A liar can surely be either gender. Sorry about your first wife, but I'm glad you can relate to the poem!

Victoria Lynn profile image

Victoria Lynn 4 years ago from Arkansas, USA Author

Exactly, Rosemay! Some people really think they can lie and fool everyone. I like your rhyming comment: "rehearsed and deliberate lies, don't need those types of guys." That's very cool!

I certainly can. I have a rose now after wading through all the fertilizer before.

For lack of better word, Or I could say "My past has composted and enriched my present life" if that seems more poetic.

Nice poem. So much said with so few words. I truly believe that lying is one of the worst offenses. I can forgive and forget so many more things than a lie.

Victoria Lynn profile image

I know, Dana. Me, too. Continual lying speaks to the character of the person, and is impossible to look past. How would you know what is the truth?

This is an awesome poem, Victoria! The emotion in it is very poignant and I like the repetition of "lying" at the end of each stanza. Voted up!

anglnwu profile image

Lovely--the theme of lying is reinforced at the end of each stanza, making it very poignant. It has a tragic ring to it, like the person is totally fedup with the lying and nothing is going to make it better. Great work.
