A Poem- Someone saw a child's face
It takes only a moment to notice a child...
The Children are the future- It is our job to make sure they are here to be the future
Although he seemed calm, his pain surpassed his age
Someone in the world,
Just saw a child’s face,
although he seemed calm,
His pain well surpassed his age.
When someone gets home.
They think of him once again,
they wonder if he is okay,
as the day comes to an end.
Somewhere in the world,
a child saw a face,
of someone who could have helped him,
but he knows he will be forgotten without a name.
Life hasn't been easy;
the world hasn't been kind,
His time is spent,
Just trying to survive.
He has a mother,
He does not know,
But he wishes she was here to save him from this world.
His daddy wakes up every morning-
Never in a fair mood.
It doesn't matter what he has or hasn't done.
It only matters what he did or didn't do.
He wishes he could run away,
He wishes he could hide,
but even at his young age-
His heart of gold can't leave his sister behind.
He shouldn't understand,
all the harshness of a cruel world
but he does, and he sees, the lack of beauty on this earth.
Someone just saw a tear roll down a child’s face
they saw his pain,
they saw his hurt but they didn't take time to learn his name.
They know they won't know him-
and his story won't be told,
unfortunately they are right,
because this child won't have a chance to grow old.
If someone would have stopped,
and asked the little boys name.
Perhaps the little boy and his sister
would finally feel safe.
But as strangers walk by,
and take for granted the quality of their time.
They could have taken a moment
to pay more attention to a child’s life.
His eyes don't have to fill up with tears
He doesn't have to be aged beyond his years,
if a stranger could take the time,
to pay attention and see the pain he cannot hide.
Someone saw a child’s face,
they watched him heal and his miseries melt away.
He no longer cries every night,
because someone stopped and gave up a minute of their time.
His sister is at peace by his side,
Tucked into bed to sleep safe through the night.
Someone rescued them from their fears,
Someone took a moment to heal the years.

Life is not easy for some, and unfortunately for many the hard times begin as children. Children should never be made to suffer, or wait for someone to help.
