A Prayer For Papaw

My assistant pastors' father-in-law was in charge of the first company deployed when the war started. He is very close to his grandkids and Brian wanted me to write a poem for him as if it were from the kids. I thought it fitting to make a hub page for just this one poem as a tribute to All our soldiers and pray they all come home safe soon.

Dear God,

I have a favor to ask of you tonight,

It's really important, so I hope I get it right.

You see My papaw can't be here to tuck me into bed,

He had to go away and help somebody else instead.

I know my papaw loves me and didn't want to go,

But God, I sure do miss him and wanted you to know,

My papaw is the very bestest friend I got,

He tells me funny stories and plays with me a lot.

So God, if you would please go to him tonight,

Stay with him and keep him safe within your sight.

God, I sure would like it if you answered this one little prayer,

That way my papaw won't be lonely and maybe won't be scared.

Well God I have to go,

Mommy says it's time for bed,

But I'll be back tomorrow,

To talk to you again.

Cute, nice for something to read to a child who might have lost their daddy. "God Bless You!"
