A Prayer From My Prison

How long have I slept?

How strong were my bonds?

I dreamt of my fears

I lay here for years

Escaping a dream

To enter nightmare

Repeating again

The same mistakes

Falling victim

To the vastness

To the grandeur

The greatness

Of this fallacy

Oh, Gods, grant me freedom

Oh, love, kiss me quickly

Hold me once more

Embrace me before

I depart from this place

And must watch you fade

Softly away, as I’m calling

Your name, feeling my strength

Abandoning me,

Abandoning you

Leaving us distant, forgetting

This story we share, passing

Down through the ages

Minutes like decades

And time, my foe remains

Keeps me from you

My love, I won’t

Let you go, not once

No force shall acquire

Your dreams, for

I’ll keep them

Here in my heart,

Forever and always

To remind you

Who you were

What you are

What you meant

What you mean

Everything , to me

Oh eyes, stay fixated

Holding her image

Dearly departed

Forever within me

Lonesome, empty

I called thee

You came here

You saved me

But sadly, you left me

But not by your choosing

For, darling, quite simply

Time and space, it forsakes me

It robs me from you

It takes you from me

And I struggle, eternal

To somehow break free

Oh, darling,

Goodbye, yet again

I promise I’ll see you

I swear I’ll ascend

Out of the ashes

And if not, I will send

To you, all my love

In the form of an angel

Until someday, somehow

I’ll finally meet you

The day I awake…

So either you are off happy with lady love but no poems or we get you and your lamenting, pain filled poetry but no lady love. Some choice.

"No force shall acquire

Your dreams, for

I’ll keep them

Here in my heart"

This is beautiful, simply gorgeous of a poem. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, like an angel falling from heaven for the love of a human.

As I said about 'Area 51', you are an amazing poet. I could never write like that. You have immersed yourself in the life of someone who is passing and to understand it so well is simply amazing, if there is another word more amazing than amazing itself then you are it!!!!!!!

You search for freedom, for that is within.

Learn the levels of your soul, for your journey to begin.

The light of truth is there in my hubs, start learning, reading and cut out the pubs.

To be something today in this given time, takes courage, and speed and quickness of mind.

Your talent is there so keep battling through, one day you will meet that special clue?

May the force be with you......

No, I wasn't. It was just my slant on your poem,... which I like.

There ain't that much poetry on HP... less since you performed your semi-departure.

I thought "Phoenix rising... but not soon enough".

But that's the beauty of good poetry, it is open to personal interpretation. No one is wrong... no one is right.

Even the poet.

Thanks a lot Wayne. It came from many levels for me as well.

I feel like love evades me, runs from me. Not just love, but true connection.

I feel like I can only acquire such feelings for short "waking" moments, then go back to dreaming

this one was outside the confines of time and space, it was more a concept/idea than anything

thanks for the comment, and I'm glad it spoke to you

:]

This verse comes through to me on many levels...the man wasting away in a prison cell; the man trapped in the claws of death looking back to those he loves; the man who lived his life without that one true love who was always there just not accessible...many emotions. You write quite well for a young writer, Ben, quite well. WB

Beautifully written, I to pray you ascend from the ashes and meet up with your vixen, this scribe reaches up to the heavens, I hope she is listening and transcends to meet you in the skies and remove you from the dark Abyss of earths turmoils, stench and broken dreams. peace and blessing to you my scribe, nice to see you back my talented poet.
