A Precipice For Change

Source

She's standing on the edge, staring out

A precipice of what could be either bad or good

Yet there seems to be no other route

And if there were another way she would

Still, she can't jump without a parachute

Especially when there's no safety net below

Of this she's absolutely resolute

Because before the good, the storm will surely blow

If only she could be so wise

Freedom would soar above it all with wings

She would be strong enough to fly

And it would not matter much, these things

If there was another way.....she would.....

My favorite line! I also like the end is a bit open ended. Great read for sure!

Yes, open ended is hopeful, at least. Thanks for reading, Theater girl, and for letting me know which part you liked best. :)

Thank you, Gypsy! Glad you liked the pictures. Kind of what a precipice even for change might be like, especially if one is free falling toward whatever comes.

Thanks, Eddy! So glad you think so. You have a great day as well!

Hi, Shanmarie. I enjoy your poems because they make me think. I love that. So, to jump or not jump? The point of decision, uncertainty, risk. It makes these moments so difficult. What does the future hold? What if? This intriguing piece reminds me of one of my own ... except yours is better, of course! Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks, Poetic Fool! I appreciate your comment very much. That's quite a compliment to make you think, and you are very right about the uncertainty. May I ask which poem of yours it reminds you of? I'd like to read it. :)

Poetic Fool 3 years ago

Shanmarie, it reminds me thematically not so much in style or form. It's the whole big life-changing decision that needs to be made thing. It's called "Standing on a Ledge".

Is it on HubPages? I'll go look for it. The titles are similar...well...the thoughts from the titles anyway. I can see how it will relate.

Yes, it's on HubPages.

Found it! Commented too. :) Kind of cuts to the heart, though, so no lengthy comment.

I think we all look for the courage to step off and test our wings. Sadly, some people never do....beautiful thoughts here.

It's quite a feeling to test those wings, billybuc.
