A Promise I made, (a Haiku Inspired Poem)

Yes, Jesus was there.
Yes, Jesus was there.

To My Friend

He lay on pavement,

My friend burned, and was dying.

Skin barely hung on,

Comfort given, I was trying.

Last words were spoken,

His head cradled in my arms.

"Is Jesus here now?"

"Yes", i said, "He's with us now."

My young friend then died.

But, before he flew away,

He knew that I cared,

And I still do, till this day,

This was a friend about my age and worked at a gas station. We were watching a ball game inside and he and another worker were taking a short cut by using gasoline on the lifters. Another friend and I tried to help the boys, but it was too late and they both died in the ambulance. Unforgettable for me. whonu

And it haunted you until now. I hope that you find peace at having disclosed this. Wow, what a burden to carry and to recall.

Sometimes, all a friend needs to be at peace is to know that we are there. Lovely, Who!
