A Query on simplicity

To Explain

One usually wants

the whens and hows

a thought so expansive

exceeds the now.

Giving a though

the mind takes flight.

Off we go into the night

feeling our way

speaking the truth

but what to say when speaking to youth?

what do you do

when words must be cut short,

when speaking to minds

asleep at the wheel,

and giving no thought

they ask you again

when the first time

all seemed quite clear.

Yet the youth need it more then you or I

we have books

and places to learn for stand by

they need a source

a guide in the night

they fear they,ll lose their way

tis' a pitiable plight

to the maven and mage

we say in our mind

get up and fly

don't lean on our hands

surely you can do it alone

if you tried.

If you ask do listen

and do your research

before calling us mad

we did our homework before you

the accusations are sad

as they fail

trying not again

thinking this path

should be easier

then they imagined

then they blame us

perhaps if we had taken the time

giving them half steps to climb...

showing them how to do

before demanding that they be...

perhaps they would be more successful

or at least appreciate the climb

and part on amiable terms

that would be preferable, right?

Jaggedfrost, beautifully inspired and interesting...the message within is so clear. I love the way the words flow and dance down to the next line - like a hop, skip and jump to a sensible conclusion. Thanks for sharing.
