A Rope in an Abyss - A Poem
Quest
Life's Travails
A Rope in the Abyss
If life seems in a deep void, the balance between sanity and despair is in a tightrope. This poem is inspire by Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy that is often misinterpreted even Adolf Hitler himself. No matter how difficult and frustrating the situation is, there is always a rope in the abyss. Just hold on to it.
I can’t fathom this feeling
Buried in a very deep pit
Awakening, bringing out this
Long forgotten anguish
Since time immemorial
Being haunted by the ghost
In the past that travails
From north to south
From east to west
Wanting to find a resting place
But to no avail
There is no dry land
To be found
Everything is in a quagmire
Sucking in, devouring
Doesn’t want to stop
Even if it’s too tired
To go on,
Life is hanging in a rope
In an abyss full of misery
Looking for a foothold
Moreover wishing for a
STRONGHOLD…
Finding no anchor there
It carries on its flight
Longing for a place
Of comfort and solitude
