A Shiny New September

Another shiny, new September

The month that changed lives forever

With the hand of terror and it fell into history

Now September has a new meaning

Etched forever in our minds and hearts

The cold grip of fear

That last look, that last kiss, that last goodbye

Who knew it would be forever

Gone and lost on a sad sigh

It takes a lifetime to build something good

To establish relationships and families

It takes but one moment to destroy it all

This shiny, new September

We all will remember

Hand in hand and heart to heart

Together as one the friends, families and heroes

This shiny, new September

Once again to honor the names and gaze upon the picture images

And with an enduring and everlasting love

We’ll go forth this shiny, new September

A lovely tribute Gypsy! I doubt we will ever look at September the way we once did. Some memories never fade!

I imagine everyone thinks only one thing when September rolls around. May history never repeat itself. Up and sharing.

Gypsy, I remember I was at Dad's that morning and he called me in to look at the TV. We all thought that a pilot had suffered a heart attack and lost control of his plane. That seems such an innocent assumption now. Thank you for the tribute. We all need to remember that day and say a prayer.

We must never forget 911. Just as the day John F. Kennedy was struck down by evil forces everyone remembers exactly where they were at the time we got the news. The difference is the magnitude of destruction and blood shed as the world saw it live on television. Thank you for this lovely memorial poem. May God Bless every victim of that tragic day.

Some of the times of our lives, when we live through them and witness the events, be they grand or atrocities, we are forever linked to them in our memories and becomes a part of us. We will never forget that September when the terrorist struck in our own backyard and it does make us reluctantly await each new September with feelings of intrepidation and worrying. Thank you for this heart felt work in which you have shared.

Super-mega-awesome! A very nice tribute to our fallen heroes.

However, as Jesse Ventura asks in his book 'Lies, Lies and more Lies', whether it was terrorists or an insiders' job? The answer may never be found, but the question is valid.

Wonderful tribute, Gypsy. Some memories like these never fade away. I wish incidents such as these do not repeat. The sun is out after that black day in September and may it remain so.

Lovely poem to remember and honor those whom we lost.

Voted up, awesome and shared.

A great poem, how can we forget that tragic day. A very sad day, loss of so many precious lives.

Beautiful poem about an awful event that is forever etched in my mind! Thank you for bringing our attention back to it, we should never forget those lives that were lost and the loved ones who were so brutally wounded by the death of their husbands, wives, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, friends & relatives.

Voted up, awesome & beautiful! Great work!

God bless!

Rasma -

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the whole world could go hand and hand, in peace, and hold a vigil for those innocent victims of that day? It is only a dream, but life has too much meaning to needlessly kill in any manner. A beautiful tribute here! Great Job!

Gypsy, beautiful writing. It will takes many more years for September to feel normal again and to not be reminded of this tragedy. Even so, your tribute is one that can heal. Just a wonderful and meaningful tribute Gypsy, shows your beautiful heart. Up, beautiful, and awesome. Shared on twitter.

Gypsy - Yes, and I remember that bright and beautiful day (it seemed to start out as), as I remember driving to work and the sky being such a beautiful blue and in the air was no humidity and I thought, oh what a lovely day, and then . . . This is an awesome write. In His Love, Faith Reaper

So glad you liked my tribute gottabegod. I know we can and must never forget. Even though I was far away when it happened I was so worried about all those people I knew. There were a lot of people there that worked in the field of marine insurance with whom I had communicated. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find out about all of their fates. Only one dear friend I knew got out safe. Thanks for the vote and God bless.
