A Sorrowed Infusion

A Sorrowed Infusion

I’m hungry, but last night I took
A needle and thread, then sewed
My lips shut after the acidic mango
Stung the open wound on my tongue.

Why does trouble find me?
My eyes follow the arc of morality.
On the way up, it seems I am behind
An imaginary line, but...

By the time it falls, I have crossed
The boundaries that I vowed not to.
Your eyes smile at mine, and I see
your tongue, dripping. I envy you.

---

Just a mixture of some late night thoughts from some sad times in my past. It may not make a whole lot of sense, but, that's okay. I will say that it's mostly about my old dog, whom I miss. Feel free to comment with your thoughts and own interpretation of it. Thanks!

Nicely done, creatively written, with a much appreciated explanation.

So many things left unsaid in this expressive and sagacious narrative prose...I found the phrasing pleasing to the ear ( I read all poetry aloud ), with a wistful mellifluous flow... I miss my Simon, a big old tomcat that thought he was a dog, in much the same manner...Thank you for the share which I really enjoyed this morning..Larry
