A guy thing

A few days ago i wrote a hub called A powerful woman, where the woman of the title is looking in the mirror and feeling good about life. Feeling sexy and powerful. Encouraged by comments by Lady Wordsmith to try a male version of this poem this then is my attempt at doing just that.

A guy thing

Here he stood

In front of the mirror

Nobody else about

So can look for a few more minutes.

He wants to look good

He wants to look good for her

He wants her to notice him

Although thinks she already has.

He'd tried being nice to her

He'd tried ignoring her

Today he's going to walk right up to her

see if she's truly interested in him.

People would laugh

seeing him preen in front of the mirror.

But a casual, ruffled look

Can't just happen casually.

Some final adjustments

before leaving.

Some gel on the hair.

A last check of the teeth.

About to step away

and noticed something crucial.

A few loose hairs

coming down from his nose.

He dealt with them quickly

and felt so much better.

Another last check

and he's ready to go.

Now everything's perfect

Well, as good as can be

The feeling running through him.

That this is the day.

Well ill just say I haven't read your original female version just yet..but reading this makes me curious. I wont call this a deep insight but simply put and quite true. Great hub !

Thanks a lot for the comment Saksham. Glad you liked it. Yes, it's not particularly deep but hopefully it seems true enough.

Cheers. Michael.

I like this one even more than the other one. This is lovely, observant. It's the little details that make it work so nicely. I like 'But a casual, ruffled look Can't just happen casually', and 'About to step away and noticed something crucial', which made me laugh when you revealed that it was nasal hair! Very good. No, we're not so different, blokes and lasses :)

Linda.

P.S. So sorry it took so long for me to get round to reading this, I'm so short of time at the moment :(

Thanks a lot Linda for your great comments. I'm really glad that you liked it. No problem if it took you a while to read it. Just great that you did.

All the best to you. Michael.

Haha, loved this "But a casual, ruffled look

Can't just happen casually." ;D That's great, I really enjoyed this, how human it feels. And how when nobodies around he can look in the mirror longer. Although this gentleman does not have the confidence of your version of the woman in the mirror... but I honestly think I might like it more. :)
