A kitten promises not to ever leave her Master's house.
Hello my friends, I am Titu here. Very good name, isn't it ? It sounds so sweet when Mr. & Mrs. Robert and their daughter Liza call me by this name. Oh I forgot to tell you I am a kitten, very cute and pretty.
My mother was a very pretty lady too, she expired about a year ago and I do miss her a lot. I have six brothers but God only knows where they are now. They were all very jealous of me as I was my mum’s most favourite.
My mum one day told me ‘ My dear child, stay in this house, Mr.&Mrs. Robert and their daughter Liza are all very kind persons, they dearly love you.’ Mother was right, very right. I am very happy in this house, you see I have no work to do but I get so much love and attention. I get food at the right time and there is always plenty of fish, rice and creamy milk – what more can I ask for? I have a very comfortable bed but Liza does not like that I stay alone, she would pick me up and take me to her bed, I can go under the quilt whenever I feel cold. Liza tells me lots of stories, comforts me and puts me to sleep. I play with her and also sit by her side as she reads a book or draws a picture.
I know almost all the people who visit this house but keep a distance from the most as I don’t trust anybody just like that. Whether this is good or bad I don’t know, this is our nature. We are clever, we cannot get fooled easily.
Mr. Robert has a business. Cannot say exactly what he does. All I have seen is a truck which comes every other day with cartons packed with some materials, these are unloaded and kept in a godown and while returning the truck carries empty cartons from another godown and these are brought back again filled with materials.
Now there happened one incident about two months back which I shall never forget.
One day, after my breakfast I was having a nap in the garden after Liza had gone to school, it was winter and the Sun was shining, a great morning it was. One stupid fly sat on my nose and I felt a tickle that woke me up and made me very angry. Why the hell it had to choose my nose to sit on when there were trees all over the garden. The fly flew away, sat on the window of the godown where empty cartons were kept and slowly went inside. This made me even more angry, why the trespass and what would the fly find there anyway? I quickly came near the window , jumped on it and entered the godown but the fly flew away through the ventelator.
Sitting inside one of the empty boxes I was singing away quietly. About half an hour gone past when I heard the voice of the truck driver, Joseph. He was talking to his Assistant Alam.
I kept quiet inside the empty box and thought that I would give them a surprise. After a while the godown door was opened but before I could do anything a few boxes were put on the box I was in and then all boxes were put on to the truck. I was crying but no one could hear me possibly because of some music that was being played loudly next door and soon the truck left without anyone knowing that I was in one of the boxes. By the time I managed to get out of the box the truck was already on the highway and running at high speed. I sat in one corner and felt sad for Mr. Robert and his family thinking that they would be searching for me everywhere and find me missing. Poor Liza would miss me immensely and cry for sure. I was in deep thought as to what to do when suddenly the truck stopped. I jumped up on the boxes and could see Joseph and Alam entered a shop and quickly returned. As they came near the truck I made my usual sound ‘Mew’ quite loudly. This drew their attention and they looked at me in utter amazement.
I started wagging my tail which made beautiful sound on the empty cartons. They picked me up and started kissing me, yes they recognized me. Joseph sat in the driver’s seat and Alam sat next to him keeping me comfortably on his lap.
They kept talking to me and asked me not to worry and assured that tomorrow I would be back at home. I looked at them and felt great.
Joseph spoke to Mr. Robert on his mobile and had long discussion about me and then placed the mobile on my ear, I could hear Liza saying “ Hello Titu how areyou ?’ I mewed to say I was O.K, She was very happy. Few minutes after the truck stopped. Joseph bought a small cup of ice cream for me and gave it to Alam who opened the lid and held the cup my mouth. Oh it was bit cold but tasted so delicious , I kept licking it and soon finished the stuff.
Soon the truck stopped near a house, it was Joseph’s house. His wife wondered where he got me from and when he told her the whole story she kissed me and took me in her arms. Soon my meal was served and I was put on their bed, how nice of them. I slept there for sometime and when I woke up found Joseph and his wife sitting by my side. They were talking about me, Alam was also there , he kissed me goodnight and left. I jumped down from bed and walked down the garden slowly sniffing the soil all the way , Joseph understood that I needed some privacy so he turned around, I also hid behind a tree and then in a minute came running inside the house.
Next day in the morning I woke up early, stretched my body, cleaned myself and was all ready for breakfast , Joseph’s wife gave me a good feed and gave me a goodbye kiss as Alam picked me up in his arm and sat inside the truck.
Oh it was a long and beautiful drive , the truck was running at full speed and I was sitting on Alam’s lap as a little princess enjoying the site and feeling great with the thought that I would soon receive a warm welcome home.
By the time we reached Mr. Robert’s house it was almost midday. Mr.& Mrs. Robert and Liza were there as I got off the truck. I was like a V.I.P. Liza picked me up and went inside running, others followed suit. Lunch was all ready for me. As I was enjoying the food Liza was there patting me gently and talking to me. After lunch I jumped up on Liza’s bed and I was so happy that I had a few tears in my eyes. My mother was right, Mr. Robert, his wife and Liza are really nice people, I shall never leave this house, well why should I ? This is my house too.
