A man in despair
I once knew a man, a very lovely man who had lost his wife, soul mate and felt he'd also lost his life. I visited him regularly through my work and his situation inspired me to write these words.
A gentle man
A broken man
A man in despair.
A man with rich memories, full of need,
A man with realization that this is no-more
A man in pain, with nothing to gain.
Such a lovely man, my heart aches,
doesn't he realize tomorrow is a brand new day?
Such a genuine man, with so much to give
yet so very lonely ,taking his will to live.
I feel the pain of his world, and when I ask 'how are you today?' his eyes fill, and I think
you don't have to say.
I feel his anguish and frustration.
A man who once had everything, robbed now, in total isolation.
Don't give up, let me be your friend,
I understand, you don't have to pretend.
Life isn't always fair, But I'm here for you
don't be afraid to open up,
you'll find my friendship is true.
