A poem, Happiness found in my foyer tree

Beautiful Babies that filled me with glee

I'm so excited, I just want to shout

I have Baby Birds in a nest

I must tell you how it all came about

I moved my foyer tree out on my patio when the weather started to turn warm

The next thing i knew

A Bird's nest started to form

At first I thought, " Oh my beautiful tree "

Then i felt ashamed

Thoughts of "Babies" Filled me with glee

Everyday I watched Mama build, looking so proud

Anticipation mounting

I found myself joyfully laughing out-loud

First there was one egg, then two, then three, then four

Sadly one morning one was lost

Found splattered all over the floor

The wind had blown, The nest only hanging by a thin thread

I quickly secured it

With a string tied overhead

So i had three bluish green eggs left in the nest

I watched them like an Eagle

Some might say, " I was somewhat obsessed "

One day i looked to see the eggs once more

Little did i guess

What was waiting in store?

One little fuzzy Baby, oh so very cute!

Anxiously waiting

For another to follow suit

I now have three Babies begging for food

Keeping Mama busy

Taking exceptional care of her adorable brood

Soon my heart tells me, " They will all fly away "

I know i will miss them

Each and every day

They brought me so much happiness, and i know one thing for sure

The tree will stay on my patio

Waiting for another Mama needing a home that's warm and secure.

Lovely poem Ruby, you were so lucky to be able to take such fabulous photos without scaring mama away. I'm guessing she will be back again next year :)

Since you are so careful and watchful for her eggs, I guess she has accepted you. Such a pretty color of eggs too. Mama Robin is so pretty too. Maybe she will come back next year.

Hello Rosemary, I've had a ball with this. It was so much fun watching the eggs hatch and taking pictures. I hope she does come back next year. I've got another one started. I put an apple wreath over my light on the patio and they have already built a nest, so i'll be taking more pictures. I'm so glad you you came by...Thank you..

Hello Hyphen, I have spent the last month keeping watch. The tree is not that tall and something could have gotten the eggs. When the wind blew one egg out, i almost cried, but it all came together. I loved every minute. It is wonderful how God made it possible for his creatures to survive. ( and have good Mama's ) Thank you so much...

Ruby, this is the perfect poem for spring. I keep waiting for the morning chorus, here that truly fills the air with a mixed symphony of song; the robins have just started to hop about in the grass, and poke their beaks into the earth.

Your beautiful poem, and this robin and her babies, bring the hope that “springs eternal.” Those photos are remarkable too! :-)

aaww such a beautiful poem and I can so relate to this when a mother bird built a nest straw by straw in my patio. At first I thought of it as a nuisance and then when she layed eggs. I was putting water and seeds for her in a cup...lol
