A Poem About Death - Prayers To The Lord For Strength

Source

This is an effort at translation of a very popular Hindi bhajan (religious song) - Tu pyar ka saagar hai. Any shortcoming in the effected translation is all mine.

The original song is too deep and powerful. I'm including a video for that song.

"Tu pyaar ka saagar hai" song

You are the ocean of love

Thirsty we are, for a drop of You

Turned away from your door

Where do we go from here

You are the ocean of love

The injured soul is fluttering its wings to fly

The wings are soft and the sight is dim

It has to cross the sea of life

Make it understand my Father

Where did it flounder

Where did it sin

You are the ocean of love

This side the life moves on

That side death is still

Who knows what the limit is

This is the dilemma we are in

Say it softly in my ears

Which way do we come

You are the ocean of love

Thirsty we are, for a drop of You

Rajan,

Thank you for this work of art. You really are a "Soul Man". I loved the video. I recognized my desert there. What road to take? My view is dim. There is a dark eternity ahead. Lord, be a lamp unto my feet.

Rajan ji, you have some amazing hubs. I also read and commented on your poem 'when heart is sad' but i would suggest you that you add capsule subtitle- translation of hindi bhajan "tu pyar ka sagar hain". This is word to word translation of that if I am not wrong. And trust me by adding this sub-title you will get many searches because abroad people are looking for translated bhajans. You are doing great job by letting world know how powerful our bhajans are because foreigners may not understand hindi but your translation would help them.

Hi Rajan,

What I got from your translation of this religious song is that we are all seeking the answers to eternity beyond this life. Nicely done. Up votes and sharing. We can all use some hope and belief in the future...

Hi Peggy,

This song is a request to the Lord for guidance to lead a life which will lead to deliverance at the end of life. Thanks for stopping by.

Understood...and well done! Leading a good life is what we should all hope to seek and accomplish. Our final reward awaits us in the next life.
