CHRISTIAN WRITER AND POETRY STYLIST CHRISTINA R. JUSSAUME
Questions and Answers
By: Robert Hewett Sr.
Christina, where are you from and what is your family status?
I reside in Massachusetts in the USA. I am a Christian wife, Mother and Grandmother. I work full time in an historical Town Hall in Massachusetts.
I see that you are a Christian writer and Christ is part of your first name. Is there a special significance there?
I am named Christina after my mother, who always told me to never fear life as Christ is the first five letters of my name and He is always with me.
When and why did you begin writing? What inspired you to write your first book? What do you write, poetry, short stories, novels, fiction, and religion?
I began writing in the year 2004. I would scribble down rhymes on scrap pieces of paper. I showed them to friends and family and they encouraged me to write. I was an only child and I missed the loss of my parents who both died before I had my 40th birthday. I found when I wrote I would heal myself of the grief. After realizing I could heal my hurt I felt that I wanted to write to help others by uplifting their spirits. I am a Poetess accomplished in many styles of poetry both the old styles and new styles of today’s Poets. From a novice poet I decided that I wanted to be the best Poet that I could be and I even have created 22 styles of my own. I am a Poetry Style Tutor on www.Poetryandpublishing.com.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I considered myself a writer the day I received the first copy of my first book.
How did you come up with your book titles?
The titles always came to me in dreams often with a vision of what I felt the cover should look like. Here are my book titles: I have written seven books and they were written in this order. “My Walk with Jesus’, “Amazing Pets and Animals”, Spiritual Living Waters,” “To God Give the Glory’, “Joseph’s Star of Eternal Promise” “Spiritual Enlightenment”, and “Spiritual Encouragement.” These books are all available on Amazon.com.
This is a link to my books.
I see a lot about poetry styles in your book? Is that your main focus in publishing your books?
I do use a lot of different styles in all of my collections but that is not my main focus. My main focus is to present a book to my reader that will uplift them and bring a smile on their face. I am working on a series now on Spiritual Healing of Mind, Body, and Spirit.
Are experiences that you write about based on someone you know, or an event in your own life?
It could be about my own life but it also could be someone I know. I have written some fiction and also a book about amazing animals. This book, “Amazing Pets and Animals” is half about my own precious pets and half fiction. It began when my Granddaughter asked me to tell her a story. I searched through my memories and wrote this book.
What books have influenced your life?
That is an easy question. The Bible has influenced my life and has inspired many of my poems. Many poems have a Bible verse underneath showing you where I received my inspiration.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I joined an on line Poetry site where Poets mingled and we learned from each other. I was especially inspired by a woman named Patricia Simpson. She was my mentor and is now a very close friend. She often challenged me to write on various subjects. When the muse went dry we inspired one another. We became very close and she later became my Publisher. If anyone helped me grow as a Poet it was Pat.
Who designed your book covers?
The first book was done by PublishAmericabut all the other beautiful covers were designed by Patricia Simpson. She has published six of my seven books. She will be publishing the 8th book when I finish the manuscript. I already know my title, which will be “Spiritual Victory”.
Where do you do your writing, at your PC, or do you have a laptop and pick places to write?
I do my writing at my PC. I am a fast typist and this way I can keep up with my thoughts. The handy spell check is also available.
What advice would you have for the unpublished writer about getting their first book published?
I would recommend my Publisher who is www.apfpublisher.com. Patricia will give you assistance wherever you need it to create your book and fulfill your destiny.
You mention that you belong to an online poetry group, maybe more than one, can you name a few of your contemporary writers that inspire you, or whose work you find pleasing to read?
Well I read many writers Bob and I enjoy every one of them for the God given talent I see within their writings. As the Tutor on the Alliance of Poets site I would have to tell you I enjoy all that I read. I especially enjoy when I can teach them a little something that they did not know before or inspire them to create a form of their own. I have been on many poetry sites but now I am only involved with this site. There are many poets I have known for many years and they often inspire me. Those that fall under that category are Patricia Simpson, Erich Goller, Joseph Spence Sr and Robert Hewett's fabulous children’s stories.
What thought would you like to leave with people who read and comment on your interview?
I hope they check out my website and watch the book trailer of all my collections. My books are for all ages and are meant to uplift my readers. I actually have some of my books at my church’s Chapel. All my books are available on Amazon.com. I wish to thank all of you that have read my interview. God bless… Christina.
Here are two poems to illustrate my writing.
The Lord Delights (Carpe Diem)
He knows every thought and desire
He can make them happen
Believe in Him
Believe His word and live accordingly
On each new day
You will start to see plan
He will finish His work in you!
Give praise and honor Him each day of life!
“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart”
(Psalm 37:4, AMP)
STEP AHEAD TO VICTORY (Monchielle)
Step to your victory
Put behind obstacles
Walk forward with faith shown
Feel His essence within
Let Jesus name be known
Step to your victory
Let Him align your life
Pieces of puzzle seen
Sow seeds by doing good
Praise Master as routine
Step to your victory
Due time awaits you now
Season of harvest here
Expect and you’ll receive
Sign from God will appear
Step to your victory
World will see His glory
Do not lose heart ever
Faithful inherit earth
God’s with us forever

“Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart”
(Galatians 6:9, NKJ)
