After The Storm.....

Evening in the Marina.... After the Storm
Evening in the Marina.... After the Storm

Heaven and Hell came together that night,

One trying to take me perhaps

The other content upon a lesson,

Saving me for later.

They brought their furies with them,

And I saw their faces of death

Seeking for my soul as

I battled for my earthy shell

I played but a pawn in their dark game,

Like Ulysses, no hope, except

That they might tire

And I might not give up before

Gone with a wave and a backward glance

Heaven and Hell retired then

Amused that night, and

Left me there to find my way

Your poem reminded me of the many frustrations as a navigator I suffered with weather when I punched my way through a line of storms. The minutes seem like hours during some of those transits and I did at times feel like I was standing between heaven and hell. A good poem, I enjoyed it! WB
