A life in motion ......

A little essay about Ahorseback's near future ;

I stood and watched as the red ball of sun sank below the horizon , the gentle rising of the swells and the promise of a new dawn had again found my life , There is as we all know , only one direction that we can move .....forward. I truely believe that if life hands you any kind of dissappointments , that one way or another we have to learn to deal with them. We have to go on as if in life , onwards in itself is enough. One thing that I have found out about myself is that I love to be around movement in nature ! The sky at night , the seas the winds of time ......anywhere you stand at any moment , everything is moving .

The night sky is another of the elements of magic that move me , A few years ago , whew , that long , fifteen years ago ! ,I had met my wife we had begun camping out in a few of the many campgrounds around New England , We would sit up late at night and watch the stars , the moon , watch for the Leonid or the Perseid's meteor showers , It was the first time that I had actually realized that the night sky is in motion and it all moves in a circular pattern of motion . I suppose the telescope set in a fixed position helped me to understand that .

I grew up in the Northern mountains of New England , on the edges of small towns or totally in the country and I find that so often it's within the shadows that we sometimes have to look to realize the motions of life itself . I mean nothing in life stands completely still for very long at all . Observe the way that the sun or the moon keeps time of all of the motion on earth , I love certain parts of the day more than others too , for one the early evening hours , that's when the toils of the day are usually over with and the rewards begin to show themselves for those of us who live by clocks .

In the last couple of nights here while camping , the latest "blue moon" appeared , which is the fairly rare -second full moon of the month . I got up during the early morning hours and stood in the soft light of this "Blue moon " and contemplated much ! As I stood there the last coals of the nightly camp fire were sending off their soft red glow and softly snapping away . I looked out across the fields and saw the few lightning bugs lighting up the warm night air thinking , motion ! The stars were still bright as well , in spite of the overpowering moon, giving a bright glow to everything .

We are so lucky in this life as enjoy to all that which nature provides us , if only we take the time to enjoy all of these , sometimes , otherworldly experiences , yet so many times we simply don't take the time to enjoy , what with our hectic lives , those schedules that never seem to allow us our own time , our own way , in our own "movement" through this universe . Yet , as I go onwards through the next few months of changing times for me , I will regain movement in my life . I am retiring from work this winter , I am stopping this merry go round of toil !

And yet , I am not stopping the motion , actually I am going to become more mobile . I am going to become a gypsy if you will , I am going to join in that "movement " of the universe , that moving world that so enlightens me , my days and my nights , my life. , We will be becoming travelers around the US. This great country of our offers so much to see , so many things to do , Hey , I might even become a writer about it !

I am moved. You write so well about what I hold so dear. A poet's touch, a picture without constraint or borders. The nights hot brew in hand and big socks on my feet, I could stand there with you, embers glowing and love my world without saying a danged word. I know my nature, but I have never known it like how you bring it to me. Muchas Gracias.

I think you've become that writer. I loved reading about a life in motion. It's all about stopping to smell the roses and notice the movement around us. Take care and be happy as you continue on your journey...

Wish you would write about your observations as you travel. You do a good job, and 'movements in nature' is an interesting topic. Thanks for sharing and best to you, going forward!

MsDora , I actually plan on writing about my travels , much of my time will be in desert southwest of America and following the northern Rockies routes as well . I do love the outdoors a lot and am by nature a quiet observer . Thank you for reading !
