Alive Because of You

Nevermore alive by way of you

Who sees the need to speak alone

Hidden by the affinity of souls

To give to that which remains unseen

As we dwell on reasons lost

To me and you and those of us

Who lost their way long ago

Yet seek the answers within the mess

Of our lives and daily toil

We are here today

For sake of the unknown

As if a book of sorrows were opened

And seen by those uncaring

With shallow understanding but aloof

Yet visible to all

Because of you there is life in me

A spark, a vision, a song to all

Whose strife is the illusion

Given to you and me for all.

So that in the seeking of the vision

We find the core replete

That gives the mean the manner

To which we live today and before

The fires raged within us

And found us absent of the mind

And gone away to see the wizards

Of the kingdoms beyond the shores

So that reason has a reason

For departures long and hard

But we sailed a course surrounded

By the friends and the foes

Yet we still can see the fathoms

By the shore of the sea

We live because we live alive

And scatter away the days

For life is in the living

Because of you and me within

"For life is in the living" I love that. Thanks for this poem of love and thoughtfulness. I really enjoyed reading it.

Excellent writing; I had to read it twice to grasp its meaning, which I think I may have touched on. I suspect you are writing to a higher power, God, to be exact. This poetry that draws, rather than repels is wonderful work. You might want to count up to line seven from the bottom, where I suspect you meant to type friends, and left out the r. Thumbs up, and I'm joining your fan club. (: v

Thank You for the comments. Coming from the three of you is indeed a complement. The poem was written for my patients at work who are being relocated. The apprehensiveness in their eyes prompted me to write this as a tribute.
