All of Time...

All of time

had just seem to melt,

he took hold of his wife’s hand,

how lifeless her skin felt,

as he fingered his wedding band,

tears blossomed,

they were married for over sixty years,

and that forever was God’s test,

trying to fight back the tears,

he was doing his best,

he kissed her,

and put her hand on his chest,

cold palm, no heat,

but together they would listen

to a single heart beat,

his face wet,

and he remembered when they first met,

they were poor,

but love was their wealth,

together, forever,

in sickness and in health...

..I cried through this one Frank just now - you are one of the best poets I know - you inspire me and teach me also - we have similar styles - lean and great use of words in economy - but still tell a story and this is one of the best pieces I have ever read here at the Hub - period. I will share this with my FB music/cinema group Let's just talk music or cinema - I have invited to our group I believe and I will invite you once again - it would be a honor and a thrill to have you there - sending warm wishes and good energy to you from lake erie time 8:24am p.s. as a footnote our mutual friend Sannel had her 2nd poem unpublished by the Hub - let's root for her to get it back on in one piece as intended - whatever happened to free speech?

Capedium profile image

Capedium 4 years ago from Texas.

Wow!.. Today I was going to publish a Hub.. Where can we find satisfaction..?? Before I was told that my poems where being stolen, and I lost my writing juice..

I guess what am trying to say is that, this Hub is a perfect answer to that question... True love.. Love that survives.. A love that is without spot.. A love that continues to grow.. A love that is as this..

Frank Atanacio profile image

Frank Atanacio 4 years ago from Shelton Author

Epi.. I don't think I know who Sannel is but if she is a friend of yours I'm on the band-wagon.. your face-book page tried to get on had some problems with it :( hmm.. and thanks for the vote .. it is you that teach me.. thanks so much..:) Frank..

And Capedium thanks for stopping by I hope you get you juice.. bless you man I'll hop over and return the read favor Peace.. everywhere not just in the Middle East..

Aweee ... this is the most beautiful poem ever, dear Frank! Wow, I missed out three years ago on reading this, as I guess I may have just joined HP then. frank, this writing created tears to blossom in my own eyes. Touched my heart. The faithfulness of long term marriage is rare today - but it still lives and is a testament of the faithfulness of God.

Thank you for a piece of writing the touches the heart.

This is so beautiful. This is what Love and a marriage is all about.

After 60+ years, they maybe parted in this life, but soon they reunite one day. I have heard that sometimes when a spouse passes on.

The living spouse wills him/herself to join the other in a span of time as a few days, weeks or months because of the deep loss and grief over losing the love of their life.

Brilliant, moving and exceptional! Just like the Author.

Really enjoyed reading this.
