Alone or Not
Alone or Not
By Tony DeLorger © 2012
Alone in singularity,
alone in perceived reality,
abiding by the eventuality
of death in the sense of self.
Broad and shallow in concept,
this cycle of life a precept
passed down from those before us,
to temper all unknown.
As angels peer down longingly,
we squirming souls so wrongly
clawing for just redemption,
from earthly pain and strife.
Do ponder all that eventuates,
in life’s path that perpetuates,
the fear of not knowing,
what the afterlife will be.
Alone or not we proliferate,
the fears that ignorance exacerbates,
and clinging to one another take
our hopes with us to death.
Praying for eternity,
within our family determinedly,
to cling to all our certainty,
that life is beyond what’s known.
But in the end alone we are,
in life and death our dreams are marred,
by secrets held of grand design,
for us to fathom and at end to find.
