An Intonation of Love
Do not look for me in the Casket,
Bedecked with fancy drapes;
I am not in the humility of the wooden box,
Alone, and abandoned in a country graveyard.
For I have been called to the Palace
Of His Majesty, to receive His Grace.
Now on my sabbatical in Paradise,
I swing from the hammock of heavenly pines.
No more elusive shadows or even songs of praise,
I now whirl to the melodies of ethereal bugles,
And basque in the glory of Lord Krishna’s flute.
Long was the struggle.
An indomitable will, pushed through the mists
Of Life’s sojourn;
Arose in triumph, in the supernal realm.
Now a kernel in your heart,
I lie in the fulfilment of your yesterdays;
Smile through your longing
For tomorrow’s golden dreams.
In your emotions, I will nourish the inner petals
With sweet whisperings from the Soul, while
In the soothing memories of your handkerchief,
I will dry your tears.
So until we meet again, until another
Shall feel my thrill in the cradle of her womb,
Let me be your Lantern Carrier;
An elder seafarer on the Way.
Pointing to the obstacles,
Let me guide you with the flame of Love,
Burning brightly in a Golden Boat;
Tenderly steering, to a repose in pastures green.
