An Ode to the Fallen
as stone and grass
greet hesitant feet
walking through blood hallowed ground
over those that sleep
who whisper to living ear
lessons both learned and failed
hoping to pass on wisdom
to those who pass
Trees swaying in undulations
casting shadows to as many as it can
so that solace may be
for they walk as they that sleep
If time gets too heavy
gratitude becomes difficult
rushing rushing replacing thump thump thump
take a walk in the shadows
listen to the hissing stone
find in there a voice of understanding
then live worthy of words
that might mark you
when you join them.
