Another File

A seasoned detective who had run the course,

thirty-five years on the police force,

and he really didn’t know what to say,

another homosexual murder,

a man killed for being gay,

stacks of reports in one pile,

and the detective was shuffling through

another file,

then removing a five-by-seven

color photo of a half nude

blood soaked wreck,

very raw and crude,

hog tied from feet to neck,

on the apartment floor,

it was a homicide that shook

him to the core,

there was a red blindfold on his face,

earring ripped out of his ear,

murderer gone without a single trace,

as the gay community would fear,

another file, another cold case.

Raw imagery is absolutely your forte. Your poetry is skillfully and beautifully executed, but painful and haunting to read. That's the definition of poetry, I suppose. It lingers and evokes strong emotions. You are so talented.

Amazingly chilling but not amazingly sad. Your poetry truly evokes the sadness and brutalness we live with in this world. Sometimes when I read your poetry I feel like I'm watching a train wreck, its so sad but I can't take my eyes away (that's a compliment btw).

Voted up, useful, awesome, and interesting.
