Another September Day.

It wasn't just

another

September

day.

It's the silence

that hurts,

the fear

reflected

in

the child's eyes

for

those

that suffered

that fateful day.

It wasn't just

another

September

day.

A memory

that

persists,

a signature

that scars,

that wakes us

when we think

all is calm,

then

retreats for an

instant,

before

the images

shock us back

to another

reality.

It wasn't just

another

September

day.

The falling leaves,

like so many souls,

run scared,

twisting and turning

on moonlit

streets where

phantoms

with whispered

breaths

incite us

to

pray

on this

other

September

day.

No, it wasn't just another September day. It was a day the world wishes never happened. This is a great poem about an event that shocked the world and will continue to evoke disbelief and sadness for evermore.

Thank you for sharing, my votes to you.

Almost surreal but too real, what an effort to try and describe what this September day is about. Well done.

Hello Snakeslane :)

Thanks for the comment :) I'm sure that I can improve on this one. I wrote it this morning after having seen a documentary about the children who had lost or who had never known their fathers.

Take care,

Dave.

Your have recreated the time when the world shed tears. Terribly sad, but expressed beautifully.

It was a day the world changed, the tragedy of it etched in the faces of the children.

So very sad, but beautifully captured in your words.
