As Love Grows

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

When all dust settles and love is found,

and hearts imbued with life’s notions

forge plans for a future,

love expands into all our being.

Not passion or intimacy,

guide our breath, our every step,

but love in all its rapture

envelopes us, warms our heart.

It is an opened door,

a consoling hand,

an understanding smile

that steals our hearts,

a kindness and sacrifice

that tells us how love has grown.

While passion steals the heart,

it is kindness and caring that seals love,

endows our lives with purpose

and uplifts our thoughts

with blissful happiness.

Love evolves within our shell,

and radiates outward,

mirroring the depth of commitment,

the knowing of place

and the vow of love taken.

We become saturated

and together anything is possible,

every sorrow is quelled,

every problem solved

and love, like a matured wine,

is smooth with depth of character.

Passion is never replaced

but evolves into peaceful acceptance.

No thoughts distract,

love is the real and pleasured gift

of life.

And a pleasure to read, Tony. I love the way this poem flows. As always good work.
