The night whispers,

as he made his rounds at all the bars,

the street lights were like stars,

as he passed several parked cars,

behind the wheel,

his head was numb,

he couldn’t even feel,

he gauged the effects of the beer,

then calculated the number

of State Troopers he saw in the rear,

a public works truck rumbles

for a moment his mind stumbles,

feeling a heavy daze,

squinting through an alcoholic gaze,

alone figure standing a few feet away,

his reality would pray,

the car would sway,

unable to sustain the vehicle’s rage,

ten minutes later,

it felt as if he was on a stage,

a crowd gathering, lights flashing,

mental lapse crashing,

pains thrashing,

he slowly looked down,

saw that figure on the ground,

scattered in a pool of blood,

a moment of whispers broken,

and the sirens was the last sound.
