Poem Two In The National Poetry Month Challenge For Autism Awareness Day

©LaDena Campbell 2012 aka justateacher

He sits at his desk

So quiet and still

Not reading, writing or talking

Not knowing if he will

He twirls his little fingers

And stares into space

A look of total concentration

On his little face

When he was two he learned to talk

And made his parents smile

But something happened, no one knows what

He hasn’t spoken in quite awhile

He was a happy child

Outgoing, energetic and loud

He had the sort of mind

That made his parents so proud

When he turned three

He was a different little boy

It was hard for his parents

To find the slightest bit of joy

When once they had big dreams

Of a lawyer or doctor one day

Now they only dreamed about

A “normal” little boy who wanted to play

Your hub has been stolen and posted here:

http://education.bigezine.com/autism-in-a-poem-141...

Cindy Murdoch found this site and about 90% of their posts are stolen from HP writers (photos and all). We all need to search for our work and then contact the company and HP. They don’t even bother to change the titles so it’s very easy to do a search. Please pass this alone and if anyone has an idea of how we can get this stopped, please contact me.

Every time I see your screen name I want to scream out "YOU ARE MORE THAN JUST A TEACHER!"....I applaud the work you have done and the work you do and I can tell you for a fact that after eighteen years in the classroom I do not applaud all teachers. Keep up the good fight.

I echo billybuc in that you are more than just a teacher! Great job here. You capture well what happens with autistic children. Voted up, beautiful, awesome, interesting....

poohgranma - from what I understand from other hubbers is that site is a "sharing" site. Unlike other sharing sites, though, this one does not give credit to the original authors and should be shut down immediately!
