BIBLE Basic instruction before leaving earth

Updated on December 4, 2015

The early church searched the scriptures

Are we aware of the fact that God has left us a diagram to follow? A road map; a learning guide, a simple plan to follow. Yes it’s true that God gave mankind basic instructions before he leaves this earth. It is quite simple to follow, but it will take an expert to help guide us on the way. For instance, we have teachers and pastors after God’s own heart to help guide us in this life. When we attend college we receive a course syllabus for that particular course, in that syllabus, it outlines all the course objectives, varied teaching methods, evaluation criteria for the course, work ethics, warranty claims, student report services, expected accomplishments, and specific timelines. It is quite simple to follow, in contrast, while we are attending college we are given study materials: homework, text books, lectures, demonstrations and so forth. This is to guide us if we want to obtain a higher grade or to just pass the course. If you miss too many days, or neglect your homework, or just didn’t put the time in for study, you will definitely fail that course.

II Timothy 2:15

Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Now we see how important it is to study God’s word, it is essentially important to learn whatever we have studied.

We have to study what the preacher has taught us in God's word. This is the way we show ourselves approved unto God, by carefully studying the word, so careful study enables us to rightly divide the word.

Some might argue that the Holy Ghost teaches us the word, well this is true, and he will bring all things that you have learned back to your remembrance. In essence, if you haven’t learned anything, you surely wouldn’t have anything for him to bring back to you.

St John 14:26

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Now we see that the Comforter will teach you all things, yes, all things that you have learned from being taught, he will bring those things back to you in the event that you need it.

Now we know one of the requirements of this doctrine, and it is to first study the word so that you won’t trip all over the scriptures when trying to teach it.

The next thing is to make sure what you have learned is truly sound doctrine and is right.

Acts 17:11

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Those folks that followed the Apostles went back on their own and searched the scriptures to see if those things that they taught were right. This should be a common practice to do, always search the word that preachers teach you, and make sure that it is correct sound doctrine. Many have been deceived by false prophets and false Christ’s, these deceivers lured the people in with smooth words, yeah, and they have even twisted the scriptures to their own destruction. Many thought they were having babies for God, on the contrary, sleeping with someone who had said that they are the Christ; many have committed suicide thinking that they were going on Haley’s comet. They were deceived because they didn’t know the word of God, neither did they study what was taught them; neither did they have the Spirit of God. Whose fault was it that they were deceived, who’s to blame for their ignorance of the word? Truly in all respect, they did not search the scriptures for themselves to find out the truth, but they relied on what man said, which came straight from doctrine of man.

Get understanding and oil in your vessels.

Hose 4:6

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Most importantly, knowledge of God’s word is very important to one’s own salvation, many perish because they did not attain unto the knowledge of God. Many ended up in hell because they did not know how to live godly lives; if we reject God’s knowledge then he will reject us. Even so, any person during the service of God should know as much as the lay members, this is a requirement for all in the ministry.

St. Matthew 25:1-11

1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

2And five of them were wise and five were foolish.

3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

8 And the foolish said unto the wise, give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

10 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

11 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

The parable of the ten virgins is a very serious parable to al believers who don’t think it is necessary to get oil in their vessels. The five foolish ones thought that they had enough word or simply put, anointing to go back with the Bridegroom, so they neglected going to bible studies, Sunday school, lectures, studying the word, reading the word after it was being taught. The problem seems to be here is, living lukewarm, unrepentant or hypercritical, thereby having their anointing oil constantly leaking out.

Perhaps some thought that it doesn’t take all that to get to heaven, others thought that having the Holy Ghost was enough to go to life. Some still hold on this notion that it is not necessary to attend bible studies or to learn the word, evidently, this is a deception from the enemy and will ultimately cause many to miss the rapture.

Now notice, when the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept, and when the bridegroom came they all arose and trimmed their lamps. Now the foolish were asking the wise for some of their oil (anointing and word)) but they began to notice that they didn’t have enough anointing in their lamps. Now they all arose and trimmed their lamps, but the foolish when they trimmed their lamps, their lamps got dimmer. Also when the wise went and trimmed their lamps their lamps got brighter, afterward they knew that they had enough word (anointing) to go back with Jesus. The foolish were asking for some of the wise oil, but it was too late for them to try to get the word after the bridegroom came. Ultimately, the little oil that they had eventually went out.

You need a Pastor to teach you.

Proverbs 8:33

Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

Proverbs 1:5

A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

The word tells us to hear instruction, what instruction? The instruction coming from the word, so when you hear instruction you will become wise, and if you refuse instruction you will become foolish.

Wise people will hear, and will continue to increase in learning. Every wise person had to learn from someone who had wisdom, they stayed around wise people and attained unto wisdom.

St John 7:38

38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Do you believe in Jesus as the scripture has said?

Many don’t believe as the scripture has said, and they will argue the face that they go to church, they don’t drink or smoke, they read their bibles. First of all, none are good so says the word, secondly, how can you hear without a preacher?

Romans 10:14

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

Romans 10:17

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Now we know from scriptures stand point, you can’t possibly hear God’s word without a preacher, and how can you believe on him of whom you have not yet heard?

You need a pastor or preacher to hear God’s word preached, taught, explained and broken down so that you can understand clearly enough to act on faith. Yes, your faith comes by constantly hearing God’s word; this increases your faith to believe in the word and how to live right. God has pastors of whom he has put in position, and they are called to preach, they are called to teach, they are called to evangelize, they are called to minister to your needs spiritually. You need a pastor, you need a teacher, and you need the five-fold ministry working in and around you in order to be perfected.

Ministers are there to perfect you.

Ephesians 4:11-13

11And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:

And he (God) gave some to be Apostles, and some pastors, and some prophets, teachers and evangelist for the ministry to work, for the saints to be perfected in the word of knowledge, for the body of Christ to be edified, encourage, ministered to. The saints have needs; also, the saints have trials and temptations and need to be

Encouraged, edified, and ministered to by prophets and pastors.

We need each other on this journey, we need to constantly hear God’s word preached, taught, brought out, broken down, rightly handled and rightly divided. You can’t of your own rightly divide God’s word, God’s word is spiritual and you are natural, in respect, the natural man cannot receive the things of God. Jesus had twelve apostles that he taught personally while he was walking on this earth. He gave parables to the world, but explained the parables to the apostles. They didn’t teach themselves the word, they couldn’t rightly divide the word by their own way of thinking. The only one who the Lord taught through revelation knowledge after he went back to heaven was the apostle Paul. II (Corinthians 12:7)

Acts 8:26

26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

31 And he said, how can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

We see clearly that the Eunuch was reading the scriptures and came to the place where Isaiah had written. He didn’t understand what he was reading or whom the prophet wrote about (how can you hear without a preacher?) Surely, the Eunuch was looking for answers from Philip, and he gave him what he needed, and explained to him Jesus. Stop trying to teach yourself, stop trying to get revelations from your own way of thinking; you will be in error indeed.

The five finger ministry.

The five fold or five finger ministry is meant to bring each believer as close to perfection as possible before the return of Christ. It is not an individual ministry or an individual journey. No one can claim or boast to have an individual ministry that is based on just themselves, this is not scriptural. We can't just stay home saying we don' t attend church , or don't belong to any organized religion, this is just deception by the enemy. Truth be told, The world would rather believe a lie than the truth, many are following after fables, dreams, and visions. Follow the word of God instead and it will steer you in the right direction. Didn't Jesus say in his word that the truth will make you free?

Why is it essential to learn God's word and be filled with the Holy Spirit?
