Batalia - A Poem
Death Came,
You think I'm to blame,
You gave him LIFE,
I was merely a Wife,
I should've fallen under your rule,
Because I don't, you think me cruel,
You force your opinion on others with glee,
So that they would judge and turn against me,
You can throw your weight around,
But I will not be swayed or back down,
Here's the thing you don't understand,
No one consulted you for our plans,
There were intimate details between him and me,
Your approval, not once did we seek,
Yet you assume that everything was his,
That I sat around and nothing I did,
Then you demand to see assets divide,
In a way that gives you all of his side,
How dare you impose your will on my life,
My love for your son does not give you that right!
You don't seem to get, you just can't see,
There was no division between him and me,
He was only able to give me 4 years of his life,
It wasn't enough time for our goals to ignite,
So the gold at the end of the rainbow you seek,
Didn't come to fruition before his life peaked,
Still you are surprised that I distanced my self,
When you're only concerned with the figment of wealth,
Imaginary details you thought up in your mind,
As you salivate over the 'riches' you'd find,
All the while I treat you with respect,
Here is a word of caution you should not neglect,
I am done wasting the good Lord's time,
With prayers for patience thru this ordeal,
The next time you attack me or mine,
I will raise from my knees and pick up my steel,
Your son saw integrity in my life,
For this and my strength, he chose me as his wife,
I do not back down when called to defend,
And soon you will see this first hand.
