Be it in Anger

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

Be it in anger, guilt or passion,

however we unclothe,

is profoundly evident

to an attentive mind.

We are if nothing else,

a list of symptoms,

guiding our responses,

and revealing our weaknesses.

Oblivious to the roots of our behaviour,

is more often the case in expression,

each tick, habit and nuance,

a rendering of emotional state.

We, the last to know,

parade our soiled washing,

unbeknownst of the perceptions

gained from the observer.

What bleeds from our soul,

slithers on the surface,

strikes at reality,

and finds solace in projection.

Being self-aware is uncommon to some degree,

left to a few willing to accept resolution,

and put to rest what most of us intentionally ignore,

for fear of truth striking us down.

In the end,

being at peace with oneself,

far outweighs the pain of unwanted exposure,

and the realisation we are pawns to our own insecurities.

Thanks for dropping by EskimoPie. Glad it made you think; I guess that's my job- to give consideration to what we think we know and perhaps what we don't.

Being at peace with oneself is the object of life and the pursuit of many of the world's religions. Great words here Tony.

The human psyche is difficult to define... meticulous and insightful, this poem makes you think. I like it!
